The Client:
A leading global supplier of aerospace and defense products, designs, manufactures, and maintains systems and components for aviation, space exploration, and military sectors. Established in 2018, the company has a reported revenue of $26 billion, with key business units including Aerostructures, Avionics, and Mission Systems.
The Problem:
The company faced challenges with manual inventory tracking, leading to discrepancies between the recorded inventory and actual stock levels. The labor-intensive process hindered accurate tracking of thousands of items, making efficient stock management difficult.
The Solution:
CCTS implemented a streamlined inventory management system using the K2 platform as the front end. The solution was divided into key components:
- Enhanced Stock Management: Developed an application to monitor inventory in real-time, providing users with up-to-date status of stock levels.
- Automated Order Picking: Integrated a JSON API for automated order picking, reducing manual entry and speeding up order fulfillment.
- Location Tags: Implemented location tags for each item in the warehouse, simplifying stock tracking and retrieval.
- Role-Based User Control: Introduced access controls to ensure data security and limit unauthorized access.
The system used SQL Server for data storage, and a “Light System” was implemented in the warehouse to guide pickers with visual cues, making order picking more efficient. By automating and integrating these processes, the company significantly improved inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
